Browse the WoW forums for any particular class, and you'll be subjected to an assenine number of posts on how Blizzard has got it wrong in WoW. For all those who feel dissatisfied wih the product, I submit the following rebuttals:
1)9 fucking million players.
2)see #1
That argument while simple in appearance, carries a lot of weight with me. There are a multitude of reasons that this game is doing so well, but the biggest is that it's fun. You can't get around the fact that this game is BY FAR the best MMORPG ever made, and if you don't believe me, go play another one for a bit. I am in no way trying to assert that sheer volume of customers is an earmark of quality (read:Backstreet Boys) it is an indicator of success, and one that cannot be ignored.
Present your theories on catering to casuals, toss out your cries of "Kalganism!" and watch as they fall on deaf ears. The game is nowhere near perfect, and the PvP system has dramatic shifts of power between classes, but it's still the most fun that I can find for $15 a month.
